Sunday, March 09, 2008 - ore 13:09 Domenica Domenica è il giorno della settimana tra il Sabato e il Lunedì. La parola viene dal latino dies dominicus, cioè "giorno del Signore". Nel mondo romano, prima dell’avvento del Cristianesimo, il giorno di festa era il dies solis, cioè il "giorno del Sole" in onore della divinità del Sol Invictus; ancora oggi questa denominazione si è conservata nei paesi anglofoni (Sunday) e del nord Europa (come nel tedesco Sonntag). Nel cristianesimo è il giorno da dedicare al culto, a differenza del sabato ebraico, per ricordare la risurrezione di Gesù, avvenuta il giorno dopo il sabato (Marco 16,2; Luca 24,1; Giovanni 20,1). I cattolici santificano la domenica attraverso la partecipazione alla Eucaristia, attraverso il riposo dal lavoro, la cura della propria famiglia e l’attenzione ai malati e ai sofferenti. In Europa e in America Latina è considerato l’ultimo giorno della settimana, mentre negli Stati Uniti, in Brasile e nella Chiesa Cattolica è considerato il primo.
