Roadtrip
(categoria: " Vita Quotidiana ")

Destination Sibenik and once configured the GPS we reach the place with no problems. The journey was many hours and many kilometers of amazing roads. After the boring Italian highway we got stuck in Slovenia where an mc accident blocked the road for at least half an hour. I don’t think the guy on the bike made it.
Our fear was to find slippery and dangerous roads in Croatia but once we were there we were pleasantly amazed by the great roads and by the breathtaking view all along the coast.
The bikes were going great and the speed was just perfect. The only negative note was the leather suit that I realized it’s too warm to travel in Southern Europe, especially if you follow the coast.
In Sibenik we found a place to sleep not far from the sea so at night we took a walk down the harbor and had a few beers in the many bars.
We ate fish for dinner and I did my first big mistake: I paid with my card and I left it in the restaurant! I would realize that only the next day, many kilometers away!
When I found out at the gas station I asked the guy to find the number of that place and ask if they had found my card... And they had!
I told him to keep it there for a few days.
Side effect of this was that I had to use my little cash to fill the tank and pay the food. The problem got huge when I forgot a bag with my money, driving license and passport in a bar where we stopped along the way in Bosnia. It was the second day and I had left all my things around the world!
I asked the police in Sarajevo to help me collect my bag but they seemed to be useless like in Italy.
This ruined a bit my stay in the beautiful Sarajevo but tried not to think about it.
After the Bosnian border we stopped by grill place where we ate typical meat for very little money.
Unfortunately where there were tourists prices weren’t this low.
My contacts in Sarajevo turned out to be useless because none showed up so after we got stuck with an appareantly funny guy from a restaurant we wasted the night roaming around the city with him who promised to find us a rock place.
The rain touched our bikes in the sunday while we were still in Sarajevo.
In the way back we stopped in there bar and after a lot if misunderstandings my bag came out! And the money was also there! I gave 20 euros to the bartender as a tip for taking car of my thungs for 2 days and we headed to Mostar.
We didn’t stop for long there, just to take some pictures. The new destination was Dubrovnik and the journey kept being amazing. Bosnia also had wonderful roads and t e small villages we passed were precious. It was really hot and I remember how attracted I was by those mini-markets on the edge of the road selling fruit.
Dubrovnik was as beautiful as crowded. We could find a nice room in the old town for 30 euros each thanks to a little girl, Maris, who offered me that on the street.
The city was expensive and posh. I was sick of seeing all these models walking back and forth through the main street... They were too many and too sexy... Too much for a loner like me. Those types you need a lot of money to afford them.
The 11th we took a trip out of Dubrovnik to take a swim and we found a nice stone beach where the water was transparent and even though there were clouds and I used some sun lotion, I succeded to get burnt by the sun sleeping near the water.
The day after we left early in the morning so to avoid the tourist traffic while carrying the bags to the parking where our bikes were. We took the highway. It was boring but we could reach Sibenik quite early so to collect my credit card and reach the falls in Plitvice where we found a very nice room for very little money and a super flirty girl handing us the keys... I guess it’s a way to attract customers. It worked anyway!
Day 14th
We visited the lakes. We walked for about 3 hours and ate sandwiches. Everything was healthy until we got a visit from 2 Polish guys staying beside our room. They couldn’t speak much English but they managed to keep us in the balcony for a couple of hours giving us Polish vodka and beer... Every now and then the pregnant wife was coming out and scolding him for being so drunk and to go in bed while the other one, after he took a leak from the balcony, went back to sleep with his cute blonde girlfriend.
The next day was the last day. It was raining in the morning so we decided I was not the case of going to the beach and head back home instead. Even the this last route was amazing. We went across more valleys until we reached Rijeka and from there we took a forced detour through central Istria since my GPS seemed to be not working properly… Thanks to my GPS failure we had the chance to see more wonderful landscapes, little towns, valleys, forest… in the end we reached Slovenia and from there it was pretty quick to reach the Italian border. Since highway is so boring we decided to take the ordinary roads and even though the traffic is heavy in Italy we didn’t give up and we got home around 9 pm. It was quite a surprise for my parents since they were waiting for me 2 days later!
