Wednesday, September 09, 2009 - ore 17:49 Helsinki Alarm was set at 5 am which means I didn’t sleep more than 30 minutes. We were at the airport almost 3 hours before the departure. While waiting to check in we started a chat with the guy in line after us who kept me company for the whole journey. He’s a bassist so we talked about music and stuff. Once we arrived in Tampere we took different paths and I took this train that took 1 hr and 20 minutes to get to Pasila, where my ”pick-up” was waiting for me. The train costed 33.60 Euros!!! This Plus the 6 Euros for the airport bus it makes 40 Euros!!! Well once I was there I met Jannica that gave me a warm welcome and took me to my new home. When I opened the door smoke was coming out and when I reached the kitchen there were 5 guys smoking and talking Spanish. They were actually part of my future flatmates. Indeed the official language in the aprtment was Spanish even though there is a guy from Latvia living in a room with transparent door... Everyone was great though, it took no time to get along perfectly. They’re also new here so we are not so organized yet but this didn’t avoid throwing a party the very same night I arrived. It wasn’t so expected, I was pretty tired after the trip and everything, but when I was surrounded by about 30 people from all over the world with music and drinks I just went with the flow. All the people at the party were very nice and friendly in the typical exchange student’s mood. After this they wanted to go to a disco in the center and even if it’s not my favourite place and I was tired I gave a chance to see what’s around in Helsinki. So we went to this place called Onilla where we paid 7 euros to get in and I paid for 2 drinks (I owed one) 18 euros! If you didn’t realize that yet Helsinki is freaking expensive city. There of course there were plenty of hot girls but hard to talk to so around 3.30 I decided I was too tired and bored to stay any longer. I couldn’t find my friends and I didn’t have their numbers yet so I just left. I didn’t want to take a cab coz I didn’t know the address and it was too expensive with the result that I walked for longer than 2 hrs to find the door to my building! The second day was better. We went to shop a few groceries and a box of beer and we started to party again... Jannica picked me up around 6.30 and later we went to another party in the nearby building where I talked to more people from all over the world, mostly attending my university. I was all great and noisy so when police came we moved to the center. We all took the train without paying (that’s kind of natural) and we went to this other place called Opera. Another disco where beer is 1 Euro and there no entrance fee! So we stayed there and since I wasn’t gonna dance at a certain time I went home with the train that cost me 4 Euros (they were checking) for 3 minutes journey. 2 days I’m here and I had 2 great parties meeting a lot of friendly people, it couldn’t be better. The weather sucks, ok, but we’re in Finland, not at the Canary Islands... COMMENTA (0 commenti presenti) PERMALINK |
