Ho sempre seguito con molto interesse tanto la carriera dei Roxy Music quanto quella solista di Bryan Ferry (escludendo gli album di cover degli anni '70). Il loro stile, all'inizio paragonato al glam di David Bowie e dei T-Rex, si è sempre più avvicinato alla new wave e al pop più accessibile. Nei primi due album del gruppo suona anche Brian Eno; da ricordare anche le copertine dei dischi, in molti casi con modelle immortalate, da Jerry Hall ad Amanda Lear (quest'ultima in "For Your Pleasure").
The Best Of Roxy Music è un compact disc pubblicato in occasione di un tour che li ha visti riuniti nel 2001. Molti dei loro cavalli di battaglia sono qui, in ordine cronologico rovesciato - si parte con "Avalon" del 1982 e si arriva a "Re-make/re-model" dall'album di debutto del 1973. I Roxy Music hanno influenzato band come i Talking Heads e i Simple Minds, i Depeche Mode (Martin Gore in primis) e i Duran Duran, ma in pratica tutto il movimento new romantic degli anni '80 deve molto alle loro ultime produzioni.
