THE LIBERTINES
Sono odiati da gran parte dei Pornopilots ma amati dagli Stoneroses /Look giusto e sguardo di chi non tocca un letto da 72 ore/Ci danno dentro con il revival punk anni ’70 (Clash , Jam ma anche Smiths , Blur , Kinks)/ Il loro album d’esordio esce nel 2002 prodotto da Mick Jones chitarrista dei Clash ed è un gran successo in UK tanto che vengono premiati dall’autorevole NME come best band del 2002 / Non hanno nulla a che fare con band tipo Strokes , Interpol e merda varia /
Nel 2003 il cantante Pete Doherty è sbattuto fuori dal gruppo per i suoi continui eccessi dovuti alla dipendenza dall’eroina e finisce dietro le sbarre per aver scassinato l'abitazione dell'altro cantante Carl Barat / Forse eccessi e liti sono spiegabili dal fatto che il loro manager è un tale Alan McGee (quello degli Oasis) / Quando Pete Doherty esce di prigione hanno il tempo di registrare un nuovo album che esce nel 2004 / L’album è subito al primo pasto della UK chart e il singolo “Can’t stand me now” viene premiato come miglior singolo britannico del 2004 / Pete Doherty nonostante i suoi problemi di droga viene nominato “Rockstar più cool del 2004” lascia i Libertines e fonda un nuovo gruppo i Babyshembles il cui primo singolo Killamangiro raggiunge la posizione n° 8 della classifica inglese / Si sciolgono ufficialmente il 20 dicembre 2004…purtroppo
