Band on the run

Beh...penso sia giunto il momento di aggiornare un po' questo blog (non è vero, Mist?). La settimana che si è appena conclusa è stata piena di avvenimenti, partendo proprio dal concorso Emergenza Rock al Banale lunedì.
Dopo aver ascoltato i Feedback e un gruppo di giovani ragazzi punk (gli Astoria), e dopo aver pazientemente sopportato le sciagurate cover 'di razza' degli Even Soul, talmente "spavaldi" da cimentarsi in classici dei Cream (Sunshine of your love), dei Led Zeppelin e in un inedito sufficientemente scialbo, il tutto condito con un'attitudine machista, devo assolutamente segnalare due band, con stile e target differente, ma con tutte le carte in regola.
Sto parlando dei
Club11 (in cui suona l'amico Kais) che già ho avuto modo di ascoltare e vedere live al DNA a marzo e in seguito venerdì scorso; autori di un rock chiaramente 'british', hanno in repertorio pezzi scritti di loro pugno, per di più in inglese, capaci di restarvi in mente già dopo soli due ascolti. Consiglio di visitare anche il loro sito web!
L'altra band, che si è classificata
seconda e che già sta avendo a quanto pare delle buone
soddisfazioni in un serio
impegno discografico, è
Lucenera. Mi hanno piacevolmente sorpreso; sembra una band affiatata, ed è facile supporre che i membri del gruppo capitanato dal carismatico Enrico (un cantante preparato, senza pacchianerie, che al tempo stesso può risultare un sex symbol enigmatico, un po' alla Dave Gahan...) provino interesse per le diverse sfumature della pop music italiana
ed internazionale (dal synth pop al rock, alla New Order). I testi sono in italiano, e funzionano.
E che dire della band che nascerà dalle ceneri dei Curtain Call? Fitta nebbia in Val Padana, oserei dire...nonostante i discorsi e i buoni propositi per una virata (anche se non drastica, dopotutto) verso sonorità indie, magari in modo tale da non suonare cover
per tutta la vita e tentare presto o tardi un'avventura con brani propri, con tanto di demo, pare si preferisca suonare le canzoni più ovvie e scontate delle quali proprio non servono ulteriori cover. Il batterista indubbiamente è bravo, ma la sa lunga. O si parlerà chiaro o sarò costretto ad uscire dal nucleo superstite. Vedremo.
