UN UOMO UN PERCHE’

Nato il 20 maggio 1943 a Cellino San Marco, in provincia di Brindisi, il talentuoso cantante Albano Carrisi scopre la grande vocazione per la musica fin da bambino. Eredita dalla madre Iolanda una voce straordinaria, sia in timbro che intensità. Giovanissimo suona già la chitarra e passa gran parte del suo tempo nella campagna del padre, suonando all’ombra degli alberi.
Adolescente, all’età di soli 16 anni, parte per Milano, seguendo le orme di Domenico Modugno, allora un autentico modello per chi sognava una carriera nel mondo della musica.

A Milano, per mantenersi, svolge i lavori più svariati. Albano comincia così a scontrarsi con le prime difficoltà della vita, periodo che in età matura ricorderà come "l’Università della vita". Rispondendo ad un annuncio del "Clan Celentano", casa discografica fondata da Claudia Mori e Adriano Celentano, che ricercava nuove voci, Albano Carrisi viene subito ingaggiato: compie così i primi passi nel mondo della musica leggera italiana. Come consuetudine tra gli artisti anche Albano sceglie il suo nome d’arte: diventa semplicemente Al Bano.

Il successo di Al Bano viene tributato in ogni parte del mondo: tra i premi più significativi vi sono 26 dischi d’oro e 8 dischi di platino. Nel 1980 vince a Tokyo il "Kawakami Award" (al Pop festival della Yamaha). Nel 1982 in Germania riceve un "Golden Europe", premio che spetta all’artista che ha venduto il maggior numero di dischi. Sempre nel 1982 Al Bano stabilisce un record assoluto in Italia, comparendo nella hit parade con quattro canzoni contemporaneamente. Nel 1984 vince il Festival di Sanremo con la canzone "Ci sarà", in coppia con la moglie Romina Power.

Poi nel 2001 Albano conosce una nuova compagna, Loredana Lecciso, che gli darà due figli oltre a qualche grattacapo, quando, tra il 2003 e il 2005, la voglia di Loredana di emergere come personaggio televisivo procurerà all’immagine della coppia dei profondi alti e bassi.
