Thursday, June 01, 2006 - ore 19:03 INQUIETANTE Curano figlia in coma. Ma era l’amica Due ragazze coinvolte in un incidente. Una perde la vita, l’altra viene ricoverata. Ad assisterla, per un equivoco, i genitori «sbagliati» CALEDONIA (Michigan) - Un incidente stradale con parecchie vittime. Tra loro due compagne di Università: una muore, una finisce in coma. E un terribile scambio di persona. Raccontato giorno dopo giorno su un blog. È l’incredibile storia accaduta nel Michigan (Stati Uniti). Due amiche vengono coinvolte in uno scontro tra un furgone universitario e un camion (l’incidente costa la vita a cinque persone): si tratta di Laura VanRyn e Whitney Cerak, entrambe 18enni. Una viene ricoverata in condizioni gravissime in ospedale. Con il volto sfigurato, pieno di gonfiori e ossa rotte. L’altra perde la vita. Ma quelli che vengono ritenuti i suoi genitori si rifiutano di riconoscere il cadavere: «Vogliamo ricordarla così com’era». Organizzano il funerale e si rinchiudono nel loro dolore. VEGLIA - I genitori della ragazza in coma, intanto, vegliano per oltre un mese quella che credono essere la loro figlia. E raccontano su un blog i progressi fatti dalla giovane giorno dopo giorno. Ma dopo il risveglio, sono proprio alcune frasi della ragazza a insospettirli. «Dice parole senza senso». Solo un esame più approfondito da parte dei medici permette di stabilire la verità: la ragazza morta è in realtà Laura Van Ryn, quella finita in coma è Whitney Cerak. I genitori di entrambe avevano creduto il contrario. SCAMBIO - Mercoledì, proprio sul web, la madre e il padre di Laura rivelano l’incredibile scambio di persona: «Siamo addolorati, abbiamo scoperto che la ragazza di cui ci siamo presi cura per tutto questo tempo non è nostra figlia, ma una sua compagna di Università che credevamo morta». Uno shock anche per i genitori dell’altra giovane, che però sono passati dal dolore alla gioia.  Questa è la foto delle due ragazze coinvolte nello scambio di persona (a sinistra Laura VanRyn).
