Talking about the good times (I can hear music)

E dopo attenti esami posso anche dare un giudizio approssimativo sui nuovi arrivi directly from UK.
Sweet - Desolation Boulevard (1975): ****grande disco di una grandissima band. Probabilmente il loro migliore, nell’ambito del glam un po’ più duro è la pietra miliare. Stupenda performance sturmentale e vocale in "Medusa", rabbiosa "Teenage Rampage" e immortale "Fox on the Run".
Kinks - The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society (1968): ***** finalmente ce l’ho! Era una macchia molto grave della mia collezione rock anni ’60, un concept album che pur passato in sordina è il top della discografia dei Kinks e uno dei 10 migliori album del decennio. Nessun pezzo in particolare in evidenza, tranne forse magari Picture Book: è un album il cui insieme delle canzoni è maggiore della loro somma.
Flamin’ Groovies - Flamingo (1970): *** alti e bassi, alcuni pezzi valgono da soli il prezzo del disco, mentre altri sono un po’ troppo "raunchy", troppo stonesiani. Però ci sono sempre quelle 4-5 canzoni, di cui la più apprezzabile è la proto-punk-folk-rock "Headin’ for the Texas Border"
Flamin’ Groovies - Shake some Action (1976): ***** è lui, è lui! Uno dei dischi più sottovalutati di sempre, se fossero stati più famosi sarebbe stato un classico, e il pezzo Shake some Action un evergreen. E invece rimangono nell’ombra, ma poco importa, ormai li ho trovati!
Lemon Pipers - Best of (1966-69): **** sì è vero, non va molto bene prendere i greatest hits. Ma nella fattispecie i Lemon Pipers hanno inciso 25 pezzi, e 20 sono compresi in questa raccolta. Piacevolissima sorpresa nell’ambito del pop psichedelico, pezzi commercialmente appetibili e altri musicalmente sorprendenti come "Through With You"
Pretty Things - Psychedelic Years (1967-70): **** altro greatest hits, che ci posso fare, lo vendevano a 4 sterline ed era un cd doppio con 40 canzoni! Ovvio che presto prenderò S.F.Sorrow, ma intanto questa è più che un’infarinatura... diciamo un’impanatura generale sui Pretty Things. Stupenda "Talking about the Good Times"
Move - Move (1969): **** Album che in realtà è una raccolta di singoli. Che dire, i Move sono stati gli unici concorrenti dei Beatles nel campo puramente pop, prima di darsi a un genere più verso il prog-rock con Shazam. Ogni pezzo è all’altezza, e se tornerò in consolle aprirò molto spesso questa custodia. Consigliabile a chiunque, highlight su Blackberry Way e Fire Brigade
Jam - All the Mod Cons (1978): **** veramente ottimo, metabolizzare i Jam è un processo abbastanza lungo, ma alla fine paga. Si vede che questi erano già avanti rispetto al loro tempo. "To be someone" è un gioiello, molto bella la cover di "David Watts".
