Capitolo due.

Una volta il disco difficile, per una band, era il terzo.
Adesso, per colpa dell’effetto serra, o dell’aviaria, o dei vicini di Erba, o di sti cazzo di tempi che corrono a velocità supersonica, il disco difficile è diventato il secondo.
Dai Razorlight agli Ordinary Boys, dai Brakes a - gira voce - gli Arctic Monkeys, dopo un inizio brillante le band tendono a incartarsi e a produrre cagate. In effetti è difficile pensare che, a livello creativo, un lavoro scritto e registrato in pochi mesi possa tenere il passo di un esordio che racchiude tutto il meglio del repertorio di un gruppo nei primi anni di carriera. E invece qualcuno ci riesce.
Il secondo dei Maximo Park è meno nevrotico rispetto al primo, e alla lunga ci guadagna in varietà.
Il secondo degli Arcade Fire è, se possibile, ancora più profondo del primo.
Ma la vera sorpresa è il secondo dei Kaiser Chiefs: nonostante Ruby, il singolo, sia quasi inascoltabile, il resto del disco è estremamente valido, meno pop usa e getta e più pop ragionato e maturo. Non me l’aspettavo. Bravi.
