Mercoledì 10 Alcatraz di Milano un concerto di altissimo livello! "Spalla" Uli Jon Roth che ci propone qualche pezzo di Vivaldi suonato con la chitarra elettrica... 40 minuti di assolo, per chiudere con la sempre bella All along the watchtower! Gli UFO si presentano con i 2 membri originali conosciuti per il binomio davanti alle canzoni (Mogg/Way), il chitarrista-tastierista Paul Raymond, un elemento di cui non ho capito il nome che sembrava uscito da This is Spinal Tap per le sue pose ridicole da grande chitarrista (in relatà suonava poche note), e alla batteria....... O MIO DIO!! Quell'uomo è il figlio di John Bonham! Jason Bonham, Bonzo Jr.!!!! ok però dal padre non ha ereditato proprio tutto... batteria essenziale e impersonale.
Inizio sottotono con la band che ovviamente suona materiale recente del loro ultimo album... tutta roba abbastanza buona che però non riesce a farsi ricordare. Unica eccezione, Mother Mary, pezzo dei '70 in mezzo a quelli nuovi, e Let it Roll, forse sfoderata troppo presto quando il pubblico era freddo. A metà inizia il vero show: Too hot to handle, only you can rock me, la grandissima Love to Love accolta con un'ovazione, Hard Times dall'album Force it e altri pezzi che ora non mi vengono in mente. All'apice dell'entusiasmo arriva la perla: le luci si spengono, Phil Mogg esclama: "Lights Out". Unico momento in cui si è sentita la mancanza di Schenker, pezzo sempre emozionante ma leggerino di chitarra in confronto al solito. Chiusura prolungata con Rock Bottom, primo bis scontato... non avevano ancora cantato Doctor Doctor! A grande richiesta secondo bis, con Baby Blue... e dopo circa 1 ora e 50 tutti a casa! grandissimo concerto, tecnicamente validissimo e interpretato benissimo dal frontman Mogg, che riesce a sopperire all'esibizionismo del chitarrista misterioso, che mi incute solo tenerezza. Certo che di aspetto Jason è identico a John! (e a rino gattuso)
