E’ l’album che ha venduto in assoluto più di qualunque altro e ha fatto conoscere Michael Jackson al mondo intero. Quì non voglio parlare di quello che ha fatto negli anni successivi o quello che è diventato Jackson, ma di questo disco così innovativo per l’epoca (parlaimo del 1982).
Personalmente lo trovo eccezzionale! Ogni traccia ha la sua particolarità: da
"The girl is mine" con McCartney (i due collaboreranno anche alla canzone
"Say say say" contenuta nell’album "Pipes of Peace" dell’ex Beatles) a
"Beat it" con il suo riff di chitarra, da
"Human Nature" lenta e leggera (scritta da Steve Porcaro dei TOTO) alla title track
"Thriller" (la parte parlata e la risata finale sono di Vincent Price) fino a quello che ritengo essere il capolavoro dell’album
"Billie Jean" . Questa canzone fu scritta interamente dal solo Michael Jackson e si sviluppa su una base di basso e batteria riconoscibile da chiunque, così come l’abbigliamento che il cantante usa in tutti i suoi concerti (giacca nera scintillante, un cappello nero ed un guanto bianco) e il famoso Moonwalk, la "camminata all’indietro". Si potrebbero dire ancora molto su tutte le altre canzoni di questo fantastico album, ma lascio la parola a voi.
