Saturday, June 16, 2007 - ore 12:08 Festival di Woodstock Il festival di Woodstock si svolse nei giorni 15, 16, 17 agosto 1969 a Bethel, piccola località della contea di Sullivan nello stato di New York e fu probabilmente il più importante evento collettivo nella storia della musica rock. Organizzato come un semplice rock festival di provincia, accolse inaspettatamente per tre giorni e tre notti più di 400.000 giovani (secondo fonti non certe si arrivò addirittura alle 800.000 persone). L’importanza storica di questo evento dipese tanto dal punto di vista musicale, quanto da un punto di vista politico e sociale: le date in cui ebbe luogo, infatti, vengono fatte coincidere con la consacrazione mediatica della rivoluzione culturale del ’68 e il culmine dell’era hippie. Migliaia di giovani americani, per tre giorni, abbandonarono i propri interessi personali per dedicarsi a qualcosa che, a posteriori, viene visto come un sogno collettivo di riforma della società. Ogni dieci anni il festival viene riproposto, ospitando artisti della prima edizione o delle edizioni precedenti ed artisti contemporanei: questi eventi sono diventati degli importanti appuntamenti sociali poiché descrivono, attraverso la musica e coloro che vi partecipano, le mutazioni della società, in particolare di quella statunitense.
