Wednesday, July 04, 2007 - ore 12:49 Un’altro mattone nel muro Nel 1982, dopo anni di lavoro, fu realizzato dal regista Alan Parker un film basato sul concept di The Wall. Il ruolo di Pink, il protagonista, fu affidato a Bob Geldof (leader dei The Boomtown Rats); ciò contribuì notevolmente alla popolarità di questo artista. Il film, che ripercorre la linea dell’album, tranne che per l’esclusione della canzone "Hey you" e per l’aggiunta di due nuovi brani, "What shall we do now?" (escluso dall’album originale per motivi di spazio) e "When the tigers broke free", affianca alle scene reali le animazioni create da Gerald Scarfe che venivano proiettate sul muro durante gli storici concerti. La vita del protagonista (una sorta di commistione tra le biografie di Roger Waters e Syd Barrett) è stata costellata di delusioni e paure che non facevano altro che aggiungere mattoni nel suo muro di difesa dal mondo (da qui deriva l’espressione "Another brick in the wall"). Famoso è infatti il triste episodio che vide protagonista Roger Waters a Montreal: durante un concerto, i fan continuavano a far chiasso e urlare, impedendo al gruppo di esibirsi; al culmine della rabbia, Roger sputò in faccia a un suo fan che continuava a spintonare le transenne. Questo episodio fu la conferma che si era ormai eretto un "muro psicologico" tra la band ed il relativo pubblico, e fu proprio da quello spiacevole evento che Roger Waters iniziò a ideare il progetto di The Wall.
