Al termine della performance live del 31 marzo 1967 presso l’Astoria Theatre di Londra, Hendrix dovette ricoverarsi in ospedale per ustioni alle mani: era la prima volta che dava fuoco sul palcoscenico alla sua chitarra. Successivamente, incoraggiata da Paul McCartney, la band partecipò al Monterey Pop Festival, dove la sua esibizione fu immortalata dal regista D.A. Pennebaker nel film Pop In Monterey. In quel concerto Hendrix dopo aver bruciato la sua chitarra disse: "aveva dato tutto quello che poteva...".  LEGGI I COMMENTI (1) - PERMALINK giovedì 5 luglio 2007 - ore 18:42 Questo si chiama SUCCESSO  Nel giugno del ’66, dopo un fortunatissimo tour europeo, i Beatles tornarono in America per consolidare la loro fama e recuperare sul mercato americano, anche grazie all’apparizione televisiva del 5 giugno 1966 all’Ed Sullivan Show. Durante tale apparizione il numero di crimini riportati fu molto vicino allo zero, e George Harrison ebbe modo di dire molti anni dopo: "Anche i criminali si fermarono a guardarci!"  LEGGI I COMMENTI (2) - PERMALINK mercoledì 4 luglio 2007 - ore 12:49 Un’altro mattone nel muro Nel 1982, dopo anni di lavoro, fu realizzato dal regista Alan Parker un film basato sul concept di The Wall. Il ruolo di Pink, il protagonista, fu affidato a Bob Geldof (leader dei The Boomtown Rats); ciò contribuì notevolmente alla popolarità di questo artista. Il film, che ripercorre la linea dell’album, tranne che per l’esclusione della canzone "Hey you" e per l’aggiunta di due nuovi brani, "What shall we do now?" (escluso dall’album originale per motivi di spazio) e "When the tigers broke free", affianca alle scene reali le animazioni create da Gerald Scarfe che venivano proiettate sul muro durante gli storici concerti. La vita del protagonista (una sorta di commistione tra le biografie di Roger Waters e Syd Barrett) è stata costellata di delusioni e paure che non facevano altro che aggiungere mattoni nel suo muro di difesa dal mondo (da qui deriva l’espressione "Another brick in the wall"). Famoso è infatti il triste episodio che vide protagonista Roger Waters a Montreal: durante un concerto, i fan continuavano a far chiasso e urlare, impedendo al gruppo di esibirsi; al culmine della rabbia, Roger sputò in faccia a un suo fan che continuava a spintonare le transenne. Questo episodio fu la conferma che si era ormai eretto un "muro psicologico" tra la band ed il relativo pubblico, e fu proprio da quello spiacevole evento che Roger Waters iniziò a ideare il progetto di The Wall.
