"Dopo un lungo cammino arrivi in città e vedi la porta della locanda illuminata, apri la porta e dentro trovi -rumore di dadi lanciati su un piano- uhm tu e tu - il tizio dietro allo schermo di cartone indica altre due persone sedute allo stesso tavolo- seduti ciascuno ad un tavolo diverso. Ora a turno descrivete il vostro personaggio..."
Chiunque abbia avuto almeno un’esperienza simile a quella appena descritta è moralmente tenuto a prendere un 20 in una prova di lutto.
Ieri a 69 anni si è spento Gary Gygax, il babbo di Dungeons and Dragons.
Un uomo che ha dato il via a quello che è diventato un passatempo per milioni di persone su questa terra.
Disse:
"I would like the world to remember me as the guy who really enjoyed playing games and sharing his knowledge and his fun pastimes with everybody else."
Beh, grazie per ogni singolo lancio di dado, trepidante attesa del risultato, viaggio con la fantasia a cui ha aperto la strada. Mi sento come se gli dovessi qualcosa. Bizzarra sensazione verso uno sconosciuto. Ma è anche merito suo, e della sua creazione se ho sviluppato la passione per i draghi, e questo non si discute.
Chiudo citando un commento che mi è piaciuto molto, postato sul sito commissionedcomic:
"So let us all dedicate a minute of silence and a d20 roll to Mr. Gygax, who is now playing at epic levels."
